Q&A with Verne Ward III

Q: If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?
A: Abraham Lincoln - to talk about faith in the face of adversity and priorities in the face of demands.

Q: What habit would you like to change?
A: Staying up late at night answering email!

Q: What do you do to relax?
A: I like to talk with my wife, Natalie, while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Q: What do you to do get energized?
A: I am energized by reading my Bible and praying. I enjoy spending time with God and my family.

Q: Who or what inspires you?
A: My father's powerful faith, my brother's tenacity to live severely handicapped with joy, my mother's total confidence in God, and my wife, Natalie's, genuine love for others. I have also been inspired by the grace-saturated life of Chuck Higgins, former pastor of Nampa, Idaho, First Church of the Nazarene.

Q: If you could change places with anyone for a day, whom would you choose?
A: A simple hard working farmer or any of millions of subsistence-living people, to see life through their eyes for a day.

Q: What's the best part about your assignment?
A: Getting to see the living church in the contrast of the lost societies of our world, and being able to encourage and sometimes to make a difference for the advancement of the Kingdom in one life.

Q: Is there a theological truth you have discovered in life?
A: That God's sovereignty includes allowance for our response to His will so that we can choose, in a loving response, to act and see God's will fulfilled.

Q: What quote do you most refer to when you need a push?
A: Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21, NASB)
